What is Nitrous? Simply put, Nitrous (N2O) creates large amounts of horsepower by creating more oxygen in the engines combustion chamber while simultaneously introducing additional fuel. The added oxygen allows the additional fuel to burn which creates increased horsepower for short bursts of torque and speed.

The latest installment of the 'Fast and Furious' movie franchise featuring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez is full of images and references to Nitrous and NOS. Even the website (www.fastandfuriousmovie.net) uses the NOS logo at the bottom to turn the effects on and off.

Below is the first 'Fast and Furious' trailer. In it you can see two giant NOS bottles on the back of the tow truck they used to steal the tanker with. One of the characters actually holds onto the NOS bottle to keep from falling off the truck.

Below is a close up of the NOS (N2O) bottles as he grabs for them.

Below you can see all of the parts included in a NOS kit. This is for a Universal Dry application.

The kit includes a number electrical connectors, relays, fuses and wires. There are also tubes and adaptors and the solenoids for delivering fuel and N2O to the cylinders.

Nitrous is activated by an electrical 'Arming switch'. Either when the gas pedal is floored or manually by a button near the driver. Some fun street terms of turning it on are, 'flip the switch', 'hit the button' and 'running juice'.

The movie is full of fast cars souped up with superchargers and/or turbochargers. Some are even turbocharged with Nitrous injected as well, for the ultimate boost when they 'flip the switch'. This one is our favorite from the original "The fast and the furious". The 650 HP Dual NOS bottled Toyota Supra.
